Beatnik’s Beginning

Beatnik’s interest in rapping began when he was 13 years old. What started as battle rapping at school lunches soon turned to performing at social gatherings, helping him understand stage presence and crowd engagement.

In 2018, Beatnik released his two singles “GRiMM” and “KTA” on SoundCloud. In 2020, he started performing opening for a band (Minor Setback), who he was also a member of. Together, they successfully threw their own show that set off the year for many fans. This experience helped Beatnik Scum get familiarized with the event planning side of the music business.

Following the uproar of requests for the release of content first heard at this show in 2020. Beatnik, released his freshman album “Death Coast” on June 5th, 2021 in remembrance of his late friend. “Death Coast” is a reflection of the gritty, aggrieved, and sporadic thoughts that circulated his mind consistently while he faces consistent trails and tribulations. “Death Coast” is a high energy concept album.

Beatnik Today

Following the release of “Death Coast”, Beatnik organized an epic show for his fans at the Guild Theatre in Oak Park that consisted of lines out the doors, Beatnik chants, and sold out scum merchandise. A huge success, this was just the beginning of Beatnik’s stage journey.

Over the course of several months, the local artist scene got wind of Beatnik Scum and he began performing at numerous venues in Sacramento’s Downtown scene. He then went on to host another show in August 2022, selling out the Starlet Room @ Harlows performing his newest, unreleased album “Inner Thoughts”. He rocked the crowd with an emotionally raw, and vulnerable performance that hit the soul and left fans feeling connected and seen in their internal struggles and battles against mental health.

Beatnik continues to take the stage, and has taken his work out-of-town and out-of-state performing in Ohio, Los Angeles, Oakland, and more.
